With the modernist movement having been and gone within graphic design, does it still have a valid place in today’s industry? To answer this question, I will be looking into various walks of design, namely the most influential aspects in the modernist movement like architecture and graphic design, but also why and how the modernist era began. After defining what modernism is, I will then move on to proving the close relationship of the movement to utopianism, and its relevancy within architecture and more specifically brutalism. Whilst also providing links to the ideals shared with the architects and graphic designers of the modernist era.
