As the Bauhaus had a large focus on architecture, it was a vital piece of research in regards to the theory form follows function, as a picture of excepts from Gropius' 'Principles of Bauhaus production' states below;
'An object is defined by its nature. In order then, to design it to function properly... ...one must first of all study its nature; for it is expected to serve its purpose perfectly; it must fulfil its function in a practical way, be durable, inexpensive and beautiful.' (Gropius, 1928)
As well as this, actually seeing the amount of thought and preparation went into the products of the Bauhaus was a real eye opener. This is what Modernism was about, informed objects who's forms were dictated by its function, allowing the object to simply work without being clouded by any unnecessary ephemeral flares.
